Ron Paul to Top Giuliani's 3rd Quarter Ceiling at 2 Month Mark of 4th Quarter

Aaron Dykes / JonesReport.com | November 30, 2007

The end of the 2nd month of 4th Quarter fundraising may prove to be a momentous milestone for the Ron Paul campaign. Paul is about to hit the ceiling of 3rd Quarter GOP fundraising, already soaring above Fred Thompson's $9,750,821 mark and Mitt Romney's $9,896,719 mark earlier today (excluding money he loaned to himself).

Ron Paul will likely pass a third milestone-- that of Rudy Giuliani's $10,258,019 fundraising mark for the end of the 3rd Quarter-- as Paul supporters initiate a last minute money bomb aimed at securing even more advertising money for key early primary states, including New Hampshire, which Zogby polling says he may well win.

The campaign has already hauled in about $50,000 in the first hour of sustained donations tied to urging former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani to catch up on some 9/11 reading he missed while grand-standing. RudysReadingList.com's November 30th donation drive may prove a memorable day for the so-called "frontrunner": the man who likes to think of himself as a 9/11 hero may never forget the man who just won't go away in the 2008 primary.

Giuliani's indignant anger at Ron Paul's explanation of foreign policy as a factor in the 9/11 attacks later proved that his claim the U.S. was attacked 'for its freedom' was ignorant, at least according to the 9/11 Commission report and the CIA (see video directly below). Furthermore, Rudy's lashing out at "no chance to win" Ron Paul only seemed to jumpstart a dark horse campaign that now seems much more tangible than the "online buzz" specter it was believed to be.

Paul finished the 3rd Quarter with more than $5 million in cash, nagging at the media's claim he was a nobody, as he had surpassed John McCain's earnings and was hovering at 3rd place for money over-all (when you factor in that Romney's campaign is essentially bankrupt). That head-turning number was ramped up by the Ron Paul campaign's first big drive-- a call for a $500,000 boost in about a week, a number that was exceeded in only three days and prompted the campaign to raise the bar to $1 million (which was then met by $1.2 million in actual donations).

But that cash surge was nothing next to the record-setting $4.2 million in a one-day haul on November 5th-- a benchmark that had every major news outlet talking, half in tones to tarnish the now dangerously virulent anti-establishment voice. The record donations were critiqued for their association with Guy Fawkes Day, leading to insinuations that Ron Paul supporters were terrorists of some kind-- as the previous claim that Ron Paul supporters were only 12 guys with computers in a basement or spambots could no longer be substantiated (Paul's donations came from 38,000 individuals on Nov. 5).

The November 5th donation drive was even more remarkable because it was not organized by the campaign, but by Trevor Lyman, an independent supporter, who also created the RudysReadingList.com drive and the upcoming TeaParty07.com drive, where supporters now hope to raise $6-10 million in one day.

Only a month out from the Iowa Caucus, Ron Paul is officially a contender-- and the fact that his 4th Quarter stats already top the official front runners' 3rd Quarter money (though they continue to get double Ron Paul's time in national debates) is proof of it.

While Giuliani and Romney's numbers are likely to accelerate from their 3rd Quarter numbers (as Paul's have), top politicos have already speculated that Ron Paul will outspend Rudy Giuliani in New Hampshire, and his poll numbers have only begun to grow, spreading his support to other corners as well.

The proof of that comes from Ron Paul outpacing his competition's 3rd Quarter performance (the others do not publish live donation numbers, as Ron Paul does, so 4th Q. numbers aren't posted yet) certifies that Paul is really flying, even as the MSM still refuse to acknowledge him. And that money-- if spent wisely and soon enough-- may prove all too damaging to the expected 'house wins again' election.

If supporters raise as much money as they hope to during the December 16th Tea Party drive, Ron Paul could actually beat the other candidates outright-- topping even Giuliani in 4th Quarter money directly (keeping in mind that Romney may continue to fluff the numbers by buying his own backing-- while Paul's cash correlates to his geometrically growing voter base).

The various factors set in motion are all a bit too uncertain to pin down to a precise picture, but Ron Paul is clearly rising. Zogby pollster and analyst Fritz Wenzel commented that Paul's timing could be just perfect for a big move from the back to the front, now a month out from the start of primary voting.

Maybe this money trend is a big indicator of the reason why-- the Ron Paul revolution has arrived. Its numbers are reinforced, its people came with money in hand and his message is spreading rapidly-- maybe, just maybe, all the way into the history books (not that Rudy would bother to check them).
