Rapper Mos Def: Bin Laden a 'Boogeyman,' Didn't Bring Down Towers on 9/11

Aaron Dykes / JonesReport.com | September 14, 2007

Popular hip hop artist Mos Def discussed current politics during an appearance on Bill Maher's Real Time where he expressed his views on Iraq, bin Laden and 9/11.

Mos Def said he believes Osama bin Laden is just a "boogeyman," noting the absurdity of the idea that a legitimate enemy would send threatening videos rather than just attacking. He further believes that the bin Laden who appears in the long string of released videos is fabricated-- including the newest video that surfaced during the sixth anniversary of the attacks.

When prompted by Maher, Mos Def explained that he "absolutely" did not believe bin Laden had anything to do with bringing down the Twin Towers, though neither Maher nor the other guest shared his views (causing Mos Def to frown in disappointment at their adherence to the official story).

"Highly educated people in all areas of science have spoken on the fishiness around that whole 9/11 theory. It's like the magic bullet and all that," Mos Def said, adding that 'going to a barbershop proves he isn't alone' in his beliefs.

Maher then used Mos Def's skepticism about the moon landing to discredit his statements on 9/11, claiming that his 'case was closed' when there is really no evidence whatsoever to support the official theory on 9/11.

"You have to admit some people want to kill Americans," Maher said when Mos Def implied disbelief in the German terrorism plot. "Yeah, some of them are police," Mos Def quipped.

He stated that he didn't think he was going to be bombed and wasn't afraid of the atmosphere of terrorism because 'in the projects' he 'knows real danger.'

Mos Def has already participated in a number of hip hop tracks questioning the events of 9/11 including recording "Tell the Truth" with Eminem and Immortal Technique, whose main chorus is "Bin Laden didn't blow up the projects; Bush knocked down the towers."
