S. America single currency offered Bolivian President Evo Morales has urged Latin American states to develop a single currency no longer subordinate to euro or dollar. In a conference dubbed Alternatives for a Parliament of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) in the Bolivian city of Cochabamba, Morales called on Latin American countries to strive for independence, freedom and unity saying a single currency would make them independent from foreign powers. "These are times in which no foreign power can come to certify the anti-drug trafficking fight or exploitation of our natural resources," said Morales. Representatives from 12 Latin American states including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Surinam, Uruguay and Venezuela attended the conference.
