Michael Crichton: Global Warming Is Not a Catastrophe Best-selling author Michael Crichton discusses his difference of opinion with the 'Global Warming as a dire crisis' crowd with Charlie Rose. Crichton forwards that those espousing a disaster scenario have not looked at the data and that reports like the U.N.'s differ greatly from scientific findings. "Consensus science is not science." Crichton asserts that a) the earth is getting warmer, b) CO2 is up by 30% but is not the primary driver of temperature increase, c) the sun is the primary driver, d) the temperature increase is not a catastrophe. In fact, Crichton predicts a temperature increase of only 8/10ths of a degree over the next 100 years. He further refutes those who claim they can model climate over a long period of time. Interestingly, he is still in favor of a carbon tax and other measures for their environmental benefit.
